Importance of learning Artificial Intelligence at an early age (AI)

Right from typing suggestions in google search to the making of the autopilot car, Tesla, artificial intelligence has made its way into our life and future in a big way. Learning AI is not fancy anymore. AI has already made its presence in every walks of human life. AI has been making a phenomenal change in the way we live and interact with each other. Despite the fear of machines taking over man, research in AI has been progressing in a big way. Humanoid Sophia is just the beginning of the future we are going to experience.

We have the responsibility to make our children future-ready. There is no point limiting their exposure based on our experience. Our experience is no more relevant for their future. Learning AI from an early age will certainly help them acquire the ability, wisdom, and prudence to solve the problems in their life in a futuristic manner.

What is Artificial Intelligence?

Artificial Intelligence is the science, art, and engineering of making intelligent machines. These machines will be empowered to think, decide, act and behave like humans. AI is generally categorised into three 1. Narrow or weak AI 2. General or strong AI ad 3. Artificial Super Intelligence. We have achieved only to make use of narrow or weak AI so far.

Is AI a threat?

It has always been a fear for humans that the exponential development in AI will lead to machines dominating over humans. Some of the best-known names in this domain such as Stephen Hawking and Elon Musk have expressed the view that with the development of AL, machines will be smarter than humans in the future. They have also warned that this will cause an existential threat to humans. Despite such concerns, we are making substantial progress in the field of AI because of its obvious benefits to make our life easier.

Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Deep Learning

Machine Learning and Deep learning are often used while talking about AI.AI is all about initiating human behaviour and intelligence for any given purpose. Machine learning is the process and technique through which the machines learn from data without any other programmes or codes being written. Deep learning is a technique inspired by human neurons to perform machine learning. As we can see, deep learning is a subset of machine learning, and machine learning a subset of artificial intelligence. Image processing, voice processing, and computations form an integral part of AI, ML and DL.

Examples of AI in our daily life

Ever imagines how Google maps give the real-time updations of traffic and roadblocks, Thank to AI. Ever used Alexa or Siri. These are the products of the lower level of weak AI. AI is already there in our daily life whether we realise it or not. Social Media feeds, Video suggestions on youtube etc are made possible by AI. AI has been used in the banking and finance sector for document processing and validations. Health care is the other segment vastly using AI and its benefits in diagnosing diseases and treating the same. Google has developed an AI tool to diagnose and cure diabetic retinopathy. Twitter uses AI to identify hate messages and messages of terrorist nature to block the same. The impact of AI in human life is growing beyond comprehension.

Programing and AI

As we discussed earlier, AI is enabling computers to think and act like humans. So far, programming worked in a way that humans write instructions and computers work according to the instructions. In AI, supercomputers will write instructions as they are enabled to study the problem based on past experiences and data given. Without a doubt, the future of programming is programming of AI. enabling computers to respond to changing circumstances will make our life easy. Needless to say, all those who aspire to become programmers will have to learn AI.

Why should kids learn AI?

AI, with its ability to simplify human life, will have a more prominent place in our future. Our children, our future must understand at a very young age how AI works and how can it can be used to find solutions to human life, let it be curing diseases or discovering ancient civilisations. Knowing AI is like knowing to use a tool that will always be handy. A tool that could be used in any circumstances and situations to find permanent solutions and move ahead. AI is going to be the best friend for human advancement in the future. It is also vital to realise when a friend turns out to be an enemy and do the necessary to contain the disaster. Thus, our children must learn AI to make sure that human civilisations exist and flourish. Kids get early exposure to AI through the video games they play. Simple games such as Rock Pencil Scissors or Pac- Man to complex games of war chance fight, football AI is being used to control other elements and players in the game. It’s important for kids to realise how these games are made to work. They would then start appreciating AI and its magic. Once realising the importance of AI in life, they will certainly start exploring more.
