What is JEE Main?

Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) is conducted to find eligible candidates for the different engineering, architecture and related courses pan India. JEE Main has two parers. Paper 1 is for admission to engineering courses and Paper 2 is for admission to Architecture and Planning. Candidates can opt for either anyone paper or both, based on their interest. In 2020 JEE Main was conducted four times. Once the results are out, counselling follows. JEE Main is conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) since 2019. What is JEE Advanced?

JEE Advanced is conducted by any one of the zonal IITs for admissions exclusively to IITs. Certain other institutes such as Indian Institute of Petroleum and Energy (IIPE), Indian Institute of Space Technology (IIST), Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISERs) and Indian Institute of Science (IISc) use the score of JEE Advanced for selecting students. JEE Advanced is followed by JEE Main. Students with high scores in JEE Main can only appear for JEE advanced. Reservations to backward communities play a major role in the admissions to IITs. JEE Advanced is quite tough compared to JEE Main. The qualification rate of JEE advanced is just about 1%.

 

Where do we get admissions through JEE Main?

There are about 50,000 seats available for admissions through JEE Main including seats at Indian Instituter of Technologies (IITs), National Institute of Technologies (NITs), Government Film and Television Institutes (GFTIs), and Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIITs).

 

What is the eligibility to attempt JEE Main 2022?

For paper 1, the exam conducted for admission to engineering courses (BE/Btech), students passed higher secondary or appearing for the plus two final exams with Mathematics & Physics (Compulsary) and any one of the following subjects, Chemistry, Biology, technical vocational subject or biotechnology can appear for the exam.
For paper 2 (B Arch & B Planning) students with Mathematics in their higher secondary (Passed Out or appearing in 2022) can apply.
