Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) is conducted to find eligible candidates for the different engineering, architecture and related courses pan India. JEE Main has two parers. JEE Advanced is followed by JEE Main. Students with high scores in JEE Main can only appear for JEE advanced. Reservations to backward communities play a major role in the admissions to IITs. JEE Advanced is quite tough compared to JEE Main. The qualification rate of JEE advanced is just about 1%.
There are about 50,000 seats available for admissions through JEE Main including seats at Indian Instituter of Technologies (IITs), National Institute of Technologies (NITs), Government Film and Television Institutes (GFTIs), and Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIITs).
For paper 1, the exam conducted for admission to engineering courses (BE/Btech), students passed higher secondary or appearing for the plus two final exams with Mathematics & Physics (Compulsary) and any one of the following subjects, Chemistry, Biology, technical vocational subject or biotechnology can appear for the exam.
For paper 2 (B Arch & B Planning) students with Mathematics in their higher secondary (Passed Out or appearing in 2022) can apply.
