2. Biotechnology contributed a lot to promote human welfare. But it is misused to increase human sufferings. Biopiracy is the unauthorised use of bioresources, and the traditional knowledge related to bioresourced, for commercial benefits. For example, ‘basmati’ rice germplasm is granted to the U.S.A. Another instance is biowar. It is a device that carries and delivers a pathogen or a toxin derived from it to a target organism. eg: Some of the potential pathogens for bioweapons are smallpox virus, anthrax bacteria, botulin toxin etc.
