 One molecule of methane contains five atoms. How many electrons are present in 0.16 g of methane?

Answer:

No. of electrons in one molecule of methane = 6 + 4 =10.
No. of moles of methane = \cfrac { 0.16 }{ 16 } =0.01\quad mol
No. of molecules of methane in 0.01 mole
= 0.01 × 6.02 × 1023
= 6.02 × 1021 molecules
No. of electrons present in 0.01 mole
CH4 = 10 × 6.02 × 1023
= 6.02 × 1023 electrons
